Origin and History: In 1804, T. & A. Evans (Thomas and Amos) started a small shoe business connected with a general store in the town of South Reading. Unlike modern shoe factories, they operated a small shop where they cut the leather for their shoes, and the actual shoemaking was done by the people of the town, with Thomas and Amos supplying the uppers, soles, counters, and heels. All shoes were sewn by hand.

Today, L.B. Evans is owned and operated as a division of Daniel Green Enterprises. While many of the traditional gentleman's slipper styles are still part of the line, the business has expanded to include new updated classics, premium products made with elk and deer, and an array of rugged, warm outdoor styles.
