The history of the L.B. Evans brand can be traced back to 1804 when T. & A. Evans (Thomas and Amos) started a small shoe business in the town of South Reading. They did not have a shoe factory as we know it today, but rather a small shop where they cut the leather for their shoes. The actual shoemaking was done by the people of the town, and Thomas and Amos supplied them with the necessary materials such as uppers, soles, counters, and heels, which were then assembled into shoes by hand.

Today, L.B. Evans is owned and operated as a division of Daniel Green Enterprises. While the traditional gentleman's slipper styles are still part of the line, the business has expanded to include new updated classics, premium products made from elk and deer, and a variety of rugged, warm outdoor styles.
