Colonel Samuel 'Big Bear' Shepherd, a West Point graduate, dedicated his entire career to the Special Operations Command, where he established the necessary connections to transform his agency, Shepherd Security, into a reality. Her last romantic relationship, which ended in a "pathetic whimper" while in med school, was a mistake she vowed never to repeat. That is, until she meets the enigmatic recluse whom she finds to be both warm and personable, as well as intelligent and kind. She is attracted to his personality as much as his physical appearance, a mindset that becomes problematic as he becomes her patient.

Shepherd Security recruits only the best individuals, capable of protecting someone in trouble like no other agency, as they operate in the shadows, invisible and outside the system, where the rules don't apply, just the oath they took. They don't exist. This is also why they can break any suspect and obtain answers from anyone accused, as they are called upon when someone must be protected at all costs or when answers must be obtained by any means necessary.

Warning: This story is realistic, with adult language and content, on the path to a happily-ever-after ending. This is the ninth book in the Shepherd Security Series, and while each story can be read as a standalone, they are best enjoyed in chronological order.
